Great Salt Lake Strike Team
The Great Salt Lake Strike Team comprises researchers from the University of Utah and Utah State University working together with state leads from the Utah Department of Natural Resources and Utah Department of Agriculture and Food and additional experts from other entities. Together, these entities are joined in a model partnership to provide timely, relevant, and high-quality data and research that help decision-makers make informed decisions about Great Salt Lake. The Strike Team regularly produces a Policy Assessment Report in January.

Study: Dust Mitigation Options and Costs
A new collaborative study, led by University of Utah Professor of Atmospheric Sciences Kevin Perry, provides policymakers, agency leaders, and the public with the most comprehensive assessment to date of potential dust control options for the Great Salt Lake, as declining water levels continue to expose vast areas of lakebed to wind erosion. This study was released February 12, 2026.
